The problem
The root of the migrant worker crisis lies in the systemic un-documentation of the interstate migrant workers and lack of awareness of their rights and entitlements.
OUR SOLUTION
A 2-year project that aims at providing 200,000 In-state and Out-state workers with holistic solutions to address the root causes of their current crisis. Our consortium of partners will supporting migrants across the country to collectively provide an integrated and standardised set of services.

Meet Our Partners
ADITHI
ADITHI is a non-profit women’s organization working for the socio-economic development and empowerment of migrants, women and children. Their activities have covered 8,000 villages in 21 Districts of Jharkhand and Bihar, impacting the lives of approximately 8 million workers. Since the lockdowns, Adithi has connected thousands of workers to local government schemes, educated them about their rights and developed migrant registers to document the skills, benefits and locations of migrant workers. The NGO has sourced jobs for construction workers in other states and provided women with training to develop their skills to undertake local faming and income generating activities.
A volunteer group of alumni and students from Jindal Global University under the supervision of experts and lawyers from Bandhua Mukti Morchaand and Human Rights Law Network have carried out detailed research on the rights and entitlements of the migrant workers under various labour laws and on the current government schemes, both at central and state level. The materials have been developed in local languages to be used as a practical tool to train and empower migrant workers.
IDOBRO AND RISE INFINITY FOUNDATION
A hybrid organization working on citizenship, entrepreneurship and partnerships with a footprint across 7 countries and 24 states in India. Idobro was established in 2009 and supports Women, Social and Green Enterprises (WSGE) with Access to markets, Build capacity, Create linkages and Deliver customised solutions. (ABCD program). They conduct skill development and entrepreneurship programs for youth and migrants across multiple industries.
RIF is the Nodal partner and Secretariat for the Jeevan Rath coalition led by UNICEF. RISE was responsible for the Crisis Management Centre that along with 45+ partners tracked over 100,000 vulnerable workers and provided relief to another 150,000 migrants in Maharashtra during the lockdown with food, travel, medical and cash assistance.
Trust set up in 2004 in Kalahandi District of Odisha with support from FARR-CARE CASHE Program being supported by DFID (Govt. of UK). It supports the organized growth of inclusive services in Odisha and sustainable livelihoods for migrants. Over the last 16 years, MSF has significantly expanded its operations within the state, to ten districts with 20 project locations managed by 150 qualified and experienced staff members. Under its livelihood’s programmes, MSF implements large projects across the 13 districts. MSF is unique that it houses both financial inclusion through SHGs and livelihoods programmes and is currently supporting 50,000 migrant workers.
CENTRE FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AND ACTIVITIES
CYDA is a non profit organization which has its presence in in 6 states including Maharashtra, Telangana, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Tripura. Since the past 21 years CYDA has been working on issues of education, youth participation, livelihood and the organization specialized in engaging young people during disasters and emergencies. During the COVID 19 pandemic, CYDA spearheaded the “No One Shall Go Hungry Campaign” and reached out to half a million people across the country. CYDA also engaged with migrant workers by providing them dry ration kits, cooked meals, travel assistance and direct travel payments. CYDA has also initiated a Helpline for Migrant workers towards their placements and market linkages. (www.cydaindia.org)
Dedicated to social welfare, educational, cultural and advocacy for human rights. TSN is working in the flood prone districts of Bihar where migration of labour is very high to other states of India for their livelihood. TSN has been supporting safe migration since 2006. It has developed a migration register and is working with 185 community based organizations (CBOs) to register migrants. These CBOs maintain the register to document contact details of both workers and employers; their jobs, skills and locations. TSN is also beginning to register migrant labourers with the labor department and informing Panchayat heads for their safety.
