Fuel a Dream
SAFA SOCIETY’S YOUTH FEED INDIA CAMPAIGN

Youth Feed India is a campaign to provide packets of dry ration to the daily wage workers, homeless and migrant labourers across five major cities including Chennai. Each pack is procured at a cost in the range of Rs.450 to 500/- and would last a family of four for 3-4 days. The contents of the pack may be locally customized to suit dietary preferences of location. 

Considering the need for a minimum of 2000 packets, we are in need of at least 10, 00,000 to support vulnerable groups over the next few weeks of lockdown.

OXFAM INDIA’S INTEGRATED RESPONSE FOR VULNERABLE FAMILIES

Oxfam India needs funds in order to engage with the government and raise the issue of immediate economic assistance to informal workforce on public platforms. In addition, they are working towards providing livelihood support for frontline health workers and vulnerable communities. 

SUMANASA FOUNDATION 

Sumanasa Foundation has called for contributions to fulfill a target of ₹20,000, in order to provide 100 kilograms of rice, 50 kilograms of dal, 45 liters of oil, 15 kilograms of salt, jeera, turmeric and chili powder for the city’s community kitchens, run by the Greater Chennai Corporation.

YEIN UDAAN

Yein Udaan is carrying out Covid-19 relief work by providing grocery kits with essential food items to 500 Transwomen and 900 daily wage earners along with their families in the first week of lockdown. They have additionally acquired 20,000 kits to benefit 80,000 people over the next four weeks. 

AIR FORCE STATION IN AVADI

Personnel from the Air Force Station in Avadi, Chennai distributed cooked food, water, groceries, sanitation material through the week to the daily wagers and migrants at the Wallajah road, Rajaji Salai, Anna Salai and areas adjacent to Fort railway station. The army also provided groceries to the NGO Food Bank Chennai, for further distribution to the needy. 

THE CHENNAI CORPORATION

is commissioning daily wagers to run 7000 mobile grocery units across the city to ensure that people don’t have to venture out of their homes to buy essential items.

FOOD DELIVERY APPS DELIVER GROCERIES, VEGGIES

The idea is to offer a total of 18 vegetables and 8 fruits to the city residents, who are finding it difficult to get the commodities due to the lockdown on account of COVID-19. This not only helps consumers who cannot step out of their homes freely during the pandemic, but also to ensure that the employees can continue working.

In addition to distributing face shields to sanitary workers and low income groups, it's also raising $1 million potential aid to cover the needs of vulnerable communities, whose work has been disrupted due to lockdown.
