HELP KOLKATA SLUM DWELLERS AFFECTED BY COVID-19
Social Distancing is a privilege that does not exist in slums of East Kolkata. The suburbs in the neighborhoods of East Kolkata, which houses one of the largest slums in the city of Kolkata is a melting pot with great ethnic diversity with majority of them indulged in daily wage work. KETTO is a crowd funding platform which is working with ALLIANCE for PROGRESSIVE INDIANS to raise funds for slum dwellers, waste pickers and daily wage workers in East Kolkata. We need funds for grassroots activities, where tiny funds result in life-changing decisions. We need to raise Rs. 30, 00,000 to support thousands of families in East Kolkata slums over the next few critical weeks of lockdown.
The poor and the marginalized will be the hardest hit in the aftermath of this outbreak. The vast majority of waste pickers, daily wage workers and homeless are living hand to mouth. Our target is to collect a sum of INR 1, 50,000 in the span of the next coming month which will be used to provide relief to these families living in the slums of Kolkata.
